About Us

We are Dave and Rachelle Harland; a husband and wife team based in Berkshire. Our working relationship began life in 2001 at one of the largest newbuild flooring installers in the South East. We created DH Flooring in 2014 and our reputation now speaks for itself.

As an expert Floor Layer and specialist in LVT and Carpet, Dave brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the table, from subfloor preparation through to design and maintenance. Rachelle is an organisational whiz, using her 22 years of project management within the flooring industry to ensure a smooth and seamless client experience.

What types of flooring do you supply and fit?

We supply and install all types of flooring (excluding ceramic tiles) including but not exclusive to carpet, sheet vinyl, laminate, luxury vinyl tile (LVT eg: Karndean, Amtico, Brampton Chase).

How do I choose my flooring?

During your bespoke survey appointment, we’ll bring samples with us from our extensive collection from which you can make your choice. You can hang on to these samples until you’ve made a final decision. If you need a budget adjustment after receiving our initial quote, we’ll always work with you to bring the price to an appropriate level, providing more samples as we go. Once you’ve made your final decision, we will then come and collect our samples and if you need a reference point to help you make decisions on the rest of your interior options, we can order you small swatches to keep.

Why do I need a survey appointment?

Whilst we’re more than happy to provide rough guide pricing, based on your own measurements, for an accurate quote we'll need to inspect the areas in person. Dave's expert eye will pick up on any subfloor discrepancies that may need attention before your new floor covering can be laid, and by hand-measuring the areas ourselves, you can be sure the correct quantities of product will be ordered. After your survey appointment, we’ll provide you with quotes based on what we can physically see during the initial inspection. On occasion, particularly in older properties, a more specialist approach to preparation may be required. Put simply, we can’t quote for what we can’t see; and every property is different. Should that be the case, we’ll discuss your options with you upon discovery and agree a masterplan to move forward, before we continue with the works.

Do we have to get rid of our old flooring ourselves?

We will uplift and dispose of your existing flooring on your behalf. If you’re looking to save some pennies, carrying out this element yourselves can help you stay within your budget.

What about all my furniture?

Our team will move large and empty items of furniture for you and put them back. Prior to our arrival, you’ll need to remove all small and breakable items and disconnect or remove any electrical equipment. We are unable to disconnect or reconnect any kitchen appliances including and not limited to, washing machines, fridges, freezers, dishwashers, cookers etc. Should your cooker need to be disconnected, we recommend you contact a qualified Electrician/Corgi registered Engineer to do this. We do also request that you strip bed linen and remove personal items from furniture you need us to move.

When will my flooring be installed?

We tend to be booked around 4-6 weeks in advance, with sporadic dates booked up to 8-10 weeks ahead. However, these lead times do fluctuate across the year and short-notice spaces can be available. So, its advisable to let us know during your initial enquiry when you’re hoping to have your flooring fitted so that we can advise on our diary space and make a note in our calendar. We do often have unforeseen gaps open up in our diary when programs are delayed by other trades, so we operate a waiting list for clients who’d like to take those gaps if they become available. If you need to move your date, we will always be as accommodating as possible.

How do I pay?

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT. We accept both card payments and BACS transfers.
